BackgroundBenjamin Lipkin's roots are grounded in photography and new media, which he studied along with Art History at the University of Michigan. After graduating in 2004 he worked as a print designer in Ann Arbor, and eventually moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue teaching opportunities. Portland was important because of its cultural and political climate and close proximity to the mountains and coast. While teaching he worked full time as a web developer, studied in a residential architecture studio, and worked with Portland Community media producing grass-roots local television, and providing media education to students in under-served schools. He is currently finishing the MFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. |
